Club Mission

Our club aims to use next level design technology to provide innovative shelter to the homeless and vulnerable. We primarily help the homeless and vulnerable in Tibet by raising funds to purchase weatherHYDE tents; life-saving insulated shelters that protect the needy from extreme weather conditions and offer families a safe space. A $300 emergency tent supporting as many as 6 individuals, weatherHYDE tents have a variety of versatile applications, such as cold weather tent, flood shelter, crisis shelter, refugee shelter or as a disaster shelter. We hope to provide shelter to those who cannot afford it or are in a situation where they are in need of it.

EQUALITY FOR ALL HUMANITY (EFAH)

Club Mission

Equality for All Humanity (EFAH) aims to advocate for both gender-based social equality and racial/cultural equality, by actively working to break down stereotypes in our own community. We seek to raise awareness of these issues and educate the student body and faculty @ SAS that they really do exist and affect us in our everyday lives. Primarily, we work personally with younger students from ES and MS every month to give them another perspective in which they can develop an equality-oriented mindset. We also fundraise for various organisations, including those connected to UN Women, SCWO, and AWARE, who share our vision and purpose, and also arrange for guest speaker talks here at SAS so that our community has a chance to interact with social equality leaders outside of school seeking to make the world a more equal place.

HAPPINESS FOR THE FUTURE

Club Mission

This club aims to help the increasing number of elderly Singaporeans being forced into retirement after reaching a certain age ( many of which do not have any other means of earnings once jobless). As a result, these citizens often have to resort to other means of income which include but are not limited to: trash-picking, box collecting, recycling bottles. Our club works to provide these impoverished elderly citizens with the necessities (such as meals, bills) they need, as well as support their social needs through companionship and weekly interactions.

OPERATION SMILE

Club Mission

Operation Smile’s mission is to provide repair surgeries for children with cleft lips and palates globally and by doing so, reduce the “occurrence of cleft lips and palates.” As well as raising awareness of this very valid but not widely discussed issue, Operation Smile also organises foundations worldwide to assist third world countries that are unable to currently provide safe cleft surgeries. As a club, we focus on raising money, spreading advocacy, and direct service. With help from the Operation Smile office in Singapore, we have 3 committees within the club: Advertising, Fundraising, and Material Creation + Collection. Overall, as a club we hope to not only raise money for the children, but also have the school be aware of this issue.

St Baldrick’s Club

Club Mission

Saint Baldrick’s mission is tackling childhood cancer by researching for cures and spreading awareness by organizing large shaving events where the shavees raise money by directly asking people to donate. In total, the organization has raised awareness and a quarter billion Us dollars! Additionally, Saint Baldricks provides wigs to children who lost their hair due to radiotherapy. How our club can help Saint Baldricks is to contribute directly to specific projects with fundraising, raise awareness with events, and visit hospitals to see how we can improve the quality of life of the patients. Saint Baldricks has shown that they are able to raise a huge amount of awareness and excel in research that contributes positively towards childhood cancer. If we were able to make Saint Baldricks a club, we would be able to contribute to their organization with funds to research therapies that have been proven to increase the cure rate of childhood cancer.
